Spring Wedding Pictures

LilacsSpring is a beautiful time of year. It seems like flowers, bushes and trees are in bloom everywhere you look. Likely in part for this reason, a fair number of weddings occur during the spring months of May and June. At present here in New Brunswick, lilacs are in full bloom and today I would like to talk about this stunning plant. Lilacs grow in a variety of shades of purple and there are white lilacs as well. These blooms may be seen in wedding bouquets and wedding centerpieces. In addition, I think large lilac bushes can make a pretty backdrop for wedding pictures (or family pictures as well). I hope you are enjoying this lovely time of year!

Sincerely,
Heather

Lilies

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAToday I would like to discuss lilies. There are various types of lilies including calla, oriental and stargazer lilies…to name a few. These beautiful, exotic flowers are sometimes used in wedding bouquets, boutonnières and floral arrangements. If lilies will be included in your special day there is something you may want to address. If you look at the picture of the lily above you will notice little tentacles (or filaments is the technical term) in the middle of the lily. The fuzzy ends on the tentacles are called anthers. The anthers make pollen and the pollen can get on your wedding attire and stain it. Therefore, you may want to consider having the anthers removed from the lilies you will be using at your wedding or special event. I hope everyone is having a great week!

Sincerely,
Heather
