Green Wedding Venues

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAEarth Day is upon us once again and it is a day that encourages us to stop and think about our planet and how the decisions we make impact our generation and future generations to come. Today I would like to take some time to talk about how you can make an important difference to the environment when you are planning your wedding. Every wedding is unique and each couple determines how their wedding will affect the environment and to what degree. You have probably heard the term “green wedding” before and may have wondered what it all entails exactly. There are various green wedding elements we could focus on but let’s talk a little about how to select a more environmentally friendly wedding venue today. Below I have listed three green wedding venue practices for you, including:

1. Venue Location – Consider selecting a wedding venue that is situated within close proximity to your guests. This should reduce the amount of travel required to attend your special day and therefore result in less CO₂ emissions entering the Earth’s atmosphere.

2. Venue Practices – Does the venue you’re considering recycle and compost? Do they have energy efficient equipment? Do they use environmentally friendly cleaning products/practices? These are just a few areas to think about when selecting your venue.

3. Venue Decor – If you decide to book a wedding venue that has a beautiful outdoor setting, you may require fewer decorations because Mother Nature has already provided beautiful surroundings for you and your guests to enjoy. If you use less decorations this is not only good for landfills but also for your budget!

There are many other environmentally friendly decisions that can be made when planning a wedding. I have just provided a few things for you to think about. I hope that you have found this useful and have a Happy Earth Day!

Sincerely,

Heather
